Message from the Mountain 007
It’s been a while since the last message – mainly because I haven’t been on the Mountain.
Since June, its literally been one plane after another, more hotel rooms than I care to think of, and “food” that isn’t food, "water" that isn’t water, not to mention all the toxic things that get sprayed, all in the name of “cleaning” or keeping the environment safe.
Life sure has a way of bringing things to the fore, even if you feel you have dealt with them.
Of course, it is easy to deal with things when you are sitting on a mountain, 20km from the nearest person, eating well, drinking mountain water, and breathing fresh air, wrapped up in the arms of your beloved.
It is less easy to deal with life’s challenges when you have not slept for what feels like a week, do not have your beloved to support you, cannot remember the last bite of food that tasted like it should, nor bathed in water that does not make your eyes sting. However, that is life, and it never gives you a schedule you want, but it definitely gives you a schedule you need.
I can only speak from my experiences.
Was I happy that my mum died when I was 17? Hell no!
Did I want to be homeless at 18? Nope, but it sure helped shape the way I am today.
How about losing everything at aged 40? Same again, I would have preferred it to be different, but had that not occurred, would I be where I am today? Who knows? And at least it exposed people for their true motives, freeing up a lot of time to do better things.
The lessons I have been taught in life have been tough (I know we all have these for sure, I am not claiming to be exceptional here, far from it), and looking back, I am grateful they made me who I am today.
How often do we try to “hang on” to things that do not work for us any longer, all because it is familiar or the sociatorial norm.
We choose familiar over new, even if it does not serve us.
Infuriating for sure when you are in the midst of what you believe to be “the world’s biggest crisis”, trying to stop things slipping away. It is true however. Rest assured, If you do not get the small wakeup call and deal with it, I can assure you they just get bigger, and more painful.
So how does that relate to my travel?
In the past, I would “love” travel food. Plane food – yum. Airport food, amazing. The cheap wine – bring it on. They are all familiar, and it's socially accepted.
Since I met Samantha, and have been educated on why the quality and source of our food and drink is vital. Whilst I still fall off the wagon sometimes, mostly I take my food with me now, and ensure that the quality doesn’t decrease much from normal home living.
It has been made easier because I pack my suitcase with BARBELL air-dried organic grass fed Aussie beef biltong, STAIT Superfood, STAIT EAA+Creatine, as well as the STAIT Energy Tea and STAIT Herbal Tea for Men.
It does not replace all meal times, but it does ensure I have as much goodness going in to my body as possible.
In order to deal with the lessons in life the universe has in store for me, I need my body to be functioning as well as it can be.
To be your best, you have to consume the best.
I have faced many of life's lessons being less than optimum, and I can say from experience, it’s a lot harder to deal with things when the body-mind isn’t at it's best.
We carry this philosophy over to STAIT – doing all we can to make it as good as it can be, in every aspect.
Of course, in this day and age, there are so many new and novel brands coming out, all offering the “perfect” solution for “X”.
Instagram is full of “new” brands, all promising to be the solution. Some even have world class former or current athletes to brand them out, all claiming to take the product, have amazing effects with it, so much so they invested in it. Health and Fitness is a trillion dollar industry, of course it’s likely to be full of people working to make a buck.
What makes STAIT different?
As I mentioned in previous messages, any number of times companies have offered us things that would make life easier, more profitable, and more straightforward. However, if one more sales man says “no one will know the difference”, or “it’s the same but at a fraction of the price, and available immediately”, all whilst not 100% guaranteeing it, then they will get a life lesson for sure.
Good nutrition is key to ensuring the life lessons are what you need, and that you will be able to cope with them when they appear.
In addition, like learning to listen to life and recognise the lessons being offered, same with nutrition.
Do your homework, choose wisely for yourself, and make sure you always read the 3rd party feedback on the Customer Review pages.
If your diet is on point, you are fit and well, then at least you are the best you can be to face the lesson being presented. It won’t necessarily make them any less of a challenge, but you will be better equipped to deal with whatever is sent your way.
I can 100% say with confidence – dealing with life’s mess when running on less than the best food and water has never ended well for me.
The cognitive aspect, the ability to deal with acute stress, the ability to prevent acute stress becoming chronic, all work better when the body functions at its optimum.
So my message from the mountain this month is ...
whilst you cannot control what life throws your way, you can always be prepared for it, by ensuring optimum health and nutrition.
STAIT, as a community, is always here to stand with you during these times, and what’s key for us is that we serve you best we can.
With that in mind, I would love to hear from you, so we can continue to focus on things that support.
What would you like to see STAIT do more of?
What content would you like us to present?
What do we do currently that we can improve on?
We truly value you as our community, so every response will get a personal reply from me, as well as being entered into a draw* to win a 6 months supply of the new STAIT EAA+Creatine.
* We'll be choosing the winner, at random, on 1st January 2025.
